Professor Mohsen Yahyaei is Director of the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre (JKMRC) at The University of Queensland and a professor of process automation in mining. He leads research and industry partnerships in digital transformation across comminution, classification, and flotation, integrating advanced sensing, soft sensors, data analytics, and control. His work focuses on reliable, scalable autonomy, bridging IT and OT through decision-support layers, anomaly detection and human-centred AI. He has delivered field deployments with miners and equipment vendors and advises organisations on turning pilots into sustained operational value. He also develops Communicative Process Automation to enable negotiated decisions in plants.
