Mayor Greg Williamson has served 14 years in Local Government so far and has been re-elected for another 4 years. First elected Mayor of Mackay City for 1991 – 1994, he then had a career in General Management running some large State and National businesses. He brought that skillset back to the mayoralty in 2016. Greg is a fifth generation Mackay local and has a long history of service to the community through Rotary, Small Business Association, Mackay Tourism, School P&C and School Boards and more than 35 years of service with the Australian Air Force Cadets where he became the National Commander. Mayor Williamson is Chair of the Local Disaster Management Group and has led us through Cyclone Debbie in 2017, bushfires in 2018 and the pandemic in 2020.
