Justin Doherty is General Manager and Site Senior Executive at BMA’s Caval Ridge Mine, leading a major metallurgical coal operation in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. He has over 20 years’ experience across mining operations, maintenance, mine planning and major projects, having held leadership roles with BHP and Thiess. Justin is focused on delivering safe, predictable and high-performing operations through strong operational discipline and empowering frontline teams. He is also actively involved in advancing the practical application of digital and AI technologies in mining. He has played a key role in the development of MineMate, BHP’s AI-enabled platform that provides a single, intuitive interface connecting frontline workers through to leadership, supporting improved decision-making, capability and performance at scale. This work reflects his focus on using technology to simplify work and enable better outcomes. He holds tertiary qualifications and is appointed as a Site Senior Executive in Queensland.
