Mackay Regional Council is pleased to offer exclusive study tours showcasing key projects, strategic precincts and industry capabilities across the region. These tours provide delegates with on‑the‑ground insights into major developments, innovation hubs and economic‑growth drivers shaping Mackay’s future. Each tour runs between 2:30pm and 4:30pm. Mackay City & Waterfront Walking Tour

Discover the future of Mackay’s urban transformation on a guided tour through the Mackay City Centre and Waterfront PDA. This experience provides a high‑level overview of the region’s vision for urban renewal, investment opportunities and major infrastructure planning. Delegates will explore revitalisation projects, business‑activation initiatives and strategic development areas shaping the next evolution of the city heart and riverfront. Guided by council representatives, this tour offers direct insights into emerging precinct opportunities and the long‑term planning driving economic growth.

North Queensland Bulk Ports (NQBP) Tour 

Gain rare behind‑the‑scenes access to one of Australia’s most significant multi‑cargo port authorities. This tour introduces delegates to NQBP’s role in managing regional exports, supporting international supply chains and driving economic development across key industries. Learn about port operations, environmental programs, coastal monitoring and major infrastructure planning. Resources Centre of Excellence (RCOE) Tour

Explore one of Australia’s leading hubs for mining innovation and METS sector capability. This tour includes access to the Underground Mining Simulator and the Future Industries Hub’s pilot processing plant, showcasing emerging technologies, training facilities and critical‑minerals innovation. Delegates will hear directly from RCOE specialists about current projects, industry partnerships and forward‑focused initiatives strengthening Mackay’s national leadership in mining services and applied research.
