Nigel has worked in the coal industry for over 20 years from environmental consultant/manager, sand mining on Stradbroke Island, Sibelco industrial products and various coal mines throughout the Bowen Basin.
He has also gained valuable experience working with the Department of Environment and Science in both assessment and compliance roles.
His broad skills in the environmental field cover most aspects of environmental management from EIS studies through to final landform development and mine closure and everything between.
Nigel’s passion is to constantly improve environmental processes across the site and to be an industry leader in rehabilitation standards and sustainable land management.
Feral animals are a perennial problem facing mines – both operational and abandoned - which can wreak havoc across sites, and surrounding areas, including farms and communities. This panel showcases recent feral animal programs at Jellinbah Mining and Yarrabee (Yancoal) in Central Qld. Panellists share key learnings regarding assess active mine or quarry sites, identifying & eliminating risks, quantifying outcomes and applying ongoing monitoring methodologies.
