QUEENSLAND MINING AWARDS GALA PRESENTATION DINNER SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED

4 Jun 2018

With less than eight weeks to go until the Queensland Mining Awards Gala Presentation Dinner, the evening’s keynote speakers have been announced. Mr Rag Udd and Mr Ian Macfarlane will be speaking at the Queensland mining industry’s night of nights, held during QME in Mackay on Wednesday July 25. Rag Udd is the Asset President, BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA), and will be delivering the opening address on the ‘new guard’ of innovation and collaboration driving the world-leading Queensland mining industry forward. Ian Macfarlane is the Chief Executive of the Queensland Resources Council and was also Australia’s longest-serving Resources and Energy Minister before retiring from politics in 2016.

With BHP as a major sponsor and the Queensland Resources Council as co-hosts of the evening, event organiser Jodie Currie says that both speakers will bring excellent and relevant industry insights, while congratulating the night’s award winners and recognising their contribution to industry. “We have had fantastic support from our sponsors and partners, and to have two high-profile speakers of this calibre really elevates the evening’s prestige and networking opportunities,” said Ms Currie. As BMA’s Asset President, Mr Udd’s presence is also a benefit for finalists who are hoping to showcase their best projects in front of industry leaders and potential customers. “Showcasing your work through a platform like the Queensland Mining Awards is a path to standing out from the competition, and our panel of industry judges will ensure that our finalists and winners truly represent the Queensland mining industry’s best.”

With a record number of entries for the 2018 Awards, finalists will also be represented during QME at the Queensland Mining Awards stand, B212 in the main pavilion. Tickets for the Gala Presentation dinner are currently available for $175 per person or $1700 for a table of 10. The black-tie evening will include networking, a three-course meal, beverages and entertainment, as well as the Awards presentation for finalists, announced in the coming weeks. The dinner is an opportunity for businesses to host clients during QME, with no requirement to be a finalist or Bowen Basin Mining Club member to attend. Tickets are available until sold out from www.bbminingclub.com/awards.
