Scania Australia has a diverse array of equipment on show at the 2010 Queensland Mining and Engineering Exhibition this July.

The Scania stand, 9155B, will feature an eight-wheel drive rigid chassis truck, a V8-powered 6x4 prime mover and a 5-cylinder Scania stationary engine.

The Scania R 420 CB 8x8 HZE rigid truck is highly suitable for mining applications being the basis for several water carts, lube service, and explosives transports already in service in Australia.

The display vehicle features a Euro 5 compliant six-cylinder engine with 420hp on tap.

The V8-powered R 560 is an example of the ‘International Truck of the Year’ award-winning new R-series prime mover, specified with the spacious and luxurious new Highline Cab, complete with the widest and most comfortable bed available in a truck in Australia.

The R 560 is powered by the legendary Scania V8 engine, which produces 560hp and 2,700Nm of torque and complies with Euro 5 emission regulations using Selective Catalytic Reduction.

The R 560 is equipped with efficiency increasing features such as the Scania Driver Support system as well as comfort and convenience features such as an under bed fridge-freezer and airline-style fold-out dining table.

Scania can provide sophisticated air conditioning and air filtration systems to ensure that its vehicles working on mine sites keep heat and dust out of the driver’s working environment.

Scania cab designs are also comfortable and safe to reduce fatigue, boosting driver efficiency.

Scania is also a powerful provider of stationary engines for mining, industrial, construction, power-gen and agricultural use.  Scania engines have a strong reputation for low fuel consumption, low life cycle costs and tried and tested quality.

The DC 9 display engine is the latest version of the famous Scania 5-cylinder 9.0-litre range, which is shown with a cooling pack. Scania engines will be available in 2011 with the very latest global standard of emission control: Stage IIIA.

Scania engines are suitable also for use in working boats, such as crew vessels and pilot boats, ferries and fishing trawlers. In Queensland, Scania has recently deployed six cylinder and V8 engines on cotton farms where they are employed to pump river water over the vast plantation acreages.

Scania’s advanced engine technology, inherent reliability and durability ensured their selection for these applications, in addition to Scania’s comprehensive after sales and back up abilities.

Scania’s strength is not limited to that of its impressive products. It’s after sales programmes are among the finest available, ranging from repair and maintenance contracts, fixed price servicing, fleet management, fleet monitoring and even on-site preventative maintenance programmes, all of which are designed to ensure customers obtain maximum uptime from their assets to in turn earn maximum efficiencies and profitability.

“Scania recognises that it plays a key role in helping to keep its customer’s business profitable and that reliability and durability of equipment is the key to success, especially in the mining industry,” says Roger McCarthy, Managing Director of Scania Australia.

“Scania is committed to providing the mining industry with a broad range of products that can meet the requirements for transport of men and materials as well as minerals.

“Our ruggedly engineered trucks and buses as well as our stationary engines have been proven in global markets including Australia to be the perfect solution in a vast array of mining applications,” he says.

“Our extensive after sales organisation ensures that maximum uptime provides customers with the highest possible asset utilisation.”
