Optical Cable Corporation will unveil lightweight, deployable reels for fibre optic installations in harsh environments that complement its fibre optic cable and connectivity products for the mining industry on Stand 1052 during the 2010 Queensland Mining and Engineering (QME) exhibition at the Mackay Showground from July 27-29.
OCC’s Modular Fiber Optic Reel System (MARS) is described as the industry’s first such system due to its high-impact, glass-reinforced polymer construction, modular design and easy transportability.
MARS also features a retractable crank and handle that allows operators to easily rotate the reel during payout or take-up.
US-based OCC is a leading manufacturer of fibre optic cables and data communication connectivity solutions with products designed for drilling, exploration, production, refining and pipeline security applications where temperature extremes, vibration, impact and chemical exposure are common.
OCC’s QME stand will also feature mining industry products such as:
- Ultra-Fox cables which meet a variety of installation requirements, from increased bend tolerance to super crush and impact resistance
- Armor fibre optic cables which offer optimal protection from chemical penetration and mechanical damage
- Core-Locked Cable Jackets which are designed to offer high protection and prevent slippage or axial movement during long-run installations
- Simplex and multi-channel fibre optic connectors and termini for applications in harsh and rugged environments
“Our cabling and connectivity products offer a solution that is economical and easy-to-install and delivers high performance and reliability in the most demanding environments,” OCC’s director of specialty sales, Pete File, said.
